Message from the Headmistress

Sr. Nanyonjo Juliet

Dear STREGS Family,

Welcome to St. Theresa Girls Secondary School, Bwanda website. I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I sincerely hope the information contained in our website will tell you all you need to know about who we are and what we offer.

At. St. Theresa, our passion lies in equipping our students with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to take on the ever-changing world in the twenty first century. St. Theresa Girls Secondary School is a school that believes strongly in developing the whole child. We use a holistic approach that encourages independent learning where pupils are encouraged to be inquisitive, resilient, and ambitious and dedicated. At the school you will find a strong sense of community, our aim is that all students be given the opportunity to achieve their goals, not only academically but also through our wide range of extra-curricular activities which help to develop well rounded individuals who understand the values of teamwork, respect and collaboration.

When choosing a school, it is important to pick one that connects with one’s beliefs about learning and child development, as well as a broad-based program of curricular and extracurricular activities. For a child, an accommodating environment helps immensely in the transitioning process. Education is tailored to help students assimilate, no matter where they are. It contextualizes concepts in class that stretch beyond the realms of time and place. St. Theresa students go on to study at top universities around the world and are outstanding ambassadors for the school. They develop life long bonds with the school, a reflection of the strong community spirit that characterizes everything that the school does.

Our school has seen a flourishing journey for over 96 years to a strong, deep-rooted tree today. Fruitful, literally and figuratively, that’s how I see it, in retrospect. From the size of the campus to the size of our family, the trend has been upward and onward, and we would like to thank everyone who has played an integral part in this exponential growth – our students, parents and of course, invaluable STREGS team. I would like to express my gratitude to all our staff at STREGS who laid the foundation for success. Some of you were at STREGS before me, many of you started with me and most of you kept joining us, to be what we are today!

Whether the Deputy, Head of Department, Administrator, a teacher, or auxiliary staff, we are all part of a very important job of educating, inspiring and empowering students to be happy and successful. Thank you so much for all the hard work and energy you invest in your job. I am proud that I have the support of an entire (STREGS) family that shares the school’s vision to build and empower each other to achieve our personal best and create a better and more peaceful world.

Communication is very important to us so we encourage parents to discuss any questions or concerns that you may have with your child’s teacher, or the Headmistress. We are so excited you are here, and we look forward to getting to know your family! If you are considering St. Theresa for your child, we would really appreciate it if you could visit us to get a first hand idea of what we offer. We would love to see you.
